Following the arrival of the first students at Manchester New Technology Institute's new premises at One Central Park on Wednesday 21 st September, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the core partners in the development the very next day. Representatives from Manchester College of Arts and Technology (MANCAT), Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), the University of Salford , the University of Manchester and Manchester Enterprises met up at the new Central Park building for the official signing. The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to clarify the expected contribution from each of the parties to the successful further development of Manchester New Technology Institute (MNTI). By signing, the partners have confirmed their commitment to ensuring that the MNTI is successful in meeting the purpose for which it was intended. The main aims of the MNTI are: to contribute to the development of North and East Manchester, the North West and wider communities; to increase the supply of people with technician and higher level skills in information and communications technologies (ICT) and other advanced technologies; and to make available better advice and support to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in their use of ICT. Marie Gilluley, senior vice principal of MANCAT, said: "The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is an important milestone in the development of the MNTI facility at One Central Park. Each of the core partners can go forward from here with a clear understanding of what we will do as education providers at the forefront of information and communications technology training. This initiative is making a key contribution both to the local regeneration of East Manchester as well as to the wider region." |
