Broadcast Television foundation degree students from The Manchester College have been working on a one hour programme for Channel M. The programme is about the Manchester Futsal Team, covering their last game and including three short features on the sport.

The Manchester station, Channel M, will be to be broadcasting the programme on their station at 8.30pm on Monday the 17th of May and it will also be repeated several times during that week. The Channel is available on Freeview 200, Sky 203 and Virgin 878.

This is the first of what we hope will be an on going relationship to produce (initially sports) programs for the channel. We plan to produce around six one hour specials on different minority sports in the region during the course of the next academic year. The college is also looking to see how other higher education and further education media courses can also be involved in the programmes.

‘This is a great opportunity for the students to showcase their skills. The whole team has worked tirelessly over recent weeks to produce a professional programme for a very tight deadline,‘ said Colin Ralph, Programme Lead Manager for Adult and HE -Television and Radio, at The Manchester College.

This Foundation Degree in Broadcast Television offered by The Manchester College develops studio and outside broadcasting skills with a focus on news, sport, current affairs and music production. With the relocation of the BBC to the North West, Manchester is fast becoming the city for broadcast media developments. Graduates of this course will be well placed to take advantage of the opportunities that MediaCityUK will present.

The programme will be broadcast on Channel M (Freeview 200, Sky 203 and Virgin 878) - Monday 17 May 8.30pm.
