OCP officially launched
One Central Park (OCP) was officially launched in July with an impressive event attended by around 250 guests. Fittingly, the occasion coincided with the end of a successful academic year for the first intake of students at Manchester NTI and the MANCAT Learning Centre.
Tom Booth, chair of the OCP Board, David Auckland, chief executive of OCP and special guest, John Monks, leader of the European TUC, all made very entertaining and informative speeches at the event. They paid homage to the proud industrial past of north and east Manchester and celebrated the unique nature of OCP and its aspirations to regenerate a thriving local economy through knowledge and skills.
Alongside the formal event, a community fun day for local residents was held in the MANCAT Learning Centre at OCP. MANCAT staff and representatives from partner organisations encouraged visitors to take part in a range of fun activities, from researching family trees to multimedia taster sessions.
