What's the Implementing, Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Services course About?

This five-day, instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to implement, manage, and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure. The course is intended for systems administrator and systems engineer candidates who are responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining server networking technologies. These tasks include implementing routing; implementing, managing, and maintaining Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS); securing Internet Protocol (IP) traffic with Internet Protocol security (IPSec) and certificates; implementing a network access infrastructure by configuring the connections for remote access clients; and managing and monitoring network access.

Course outline includes:

  • Allocating IP addressing by using DHCP
  • Managing and monitoring DHCP
  • Resolving names
  • Resolving host names by using DNS
  • Managing the integration of Active Directory and DNS
  • Managing and monitoring DNS
  • Resolving network basic input/output system (NetBIOS) names by using WINS
  • Securing network traffic by using IPSec and certificates
  • Configuring routing by using the Routing and Remote Access service
  • Configuring network access
  • Managing and monitoring network access

Attendance is by block release, consisting of a five day intensive training course (9am - 4pm).

What qualifications or experience do I need to do the course?

Before attending this course, students must have completed Course 2276 - Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Hosts - or have equivalent knowledge and skills.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?

Successful students will be awarded a Microsoft Academy Certificate upon course completion. The student will also be at a knowledge level to take the Professional Certification exam provided by Microsoft at our Pearson VUE testing Centre.

What will I be able to go on to do after I’ve completed the course?

As a Microsoft Academy, Manchester NTI delivers the entire range of Microsoft courses from MCDST certification to MCSA and MCSE. On completion of this course, you will be suitably prepared to take the Microsoft MCP exam 70-291 Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.
