What's the course about?

The aim of this course is to enable students to carry out a number of functions using SQL 1.

Areas covered by the course include:
• The Structure of a Relational Database
• Using SQL*Plus
• The Basic SQL Select Statement
• Selecting Data from Multiple Tables
• Inner Joins, Outer Joins and Self Joins
• Grouping and Sorting Output
• Sub-queries and In-line Views
• Character, Date and Numeric Functions
• SQL*Plus Run-time Parameters and Variables
• SQL*Plus Control Parameters
• Producing Reports with SQL*Plus
• Creating and Changing Tables and Views
• Constraints and Indexes
• Inserting, Updating and Deleting Data
• Basic Transaction Control
• Controlling Access to the Database
• Related Data Dictionary Tables and Views

The course is delivered through lectures and workshops and it is assessed on an end test.

This is a three day course.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?
Delegates should have a basic knowledge of IT.

An Oracle SQL 1 certificate will be awarded at level 3.

On completion of this course, delegates could go on to study on the Oracle SQL 2 (Advanced) course at Manchester NTI. The Oracle SQL 1 course can enhance the career opportunities of junior database developers.
