What's the First Line Management Introductory Certificate
course about?

This course is an introduction to the Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management but is also a qualification in its own right. It has been designed to improve the competence and confidence of those who are likely to become first line managers (team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in a post but have had little or no formal training in their role.

You will cover the following areas:
• Planning
• Problem-solving
• Communications
• Managing the team

The course will be delivered by informal lectures and group work. It will be assessed by segment reviews and a work-based assignment.

How long is the First Line Management Introductory Certificate course and when will it be taught?

This course is studied for one day per week over six weeks.

Where is the First Line Management Introductory Certificate
course taught?

At our Openshaw Campus, Ashton Old Road or at our St John's Centre,
3 New Quay Street, Central Manchester.

How much will the First Line Management Introductory
Certificate course cost me?

The course would normally cost approximately £500 but we are now able to fund this course to employees from SMEs in Greater Manchester, so there is no charge.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do the
First Line Management Introductory Certificate course?

There are no formal entry requirements but students must be in paid or voluntary employment to enable them to complete the assessments. Candidates should be practising or potential first line managers, with a background that will enable them
to benefit from the programme. Selection will be by telephone interview.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete
the First Line Management Introductory Certificate course?

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 3 Introductory Certificate in First Line Management.

What will I be able to go on to do after I’ve completed the
First Line Management Introductory Certificate course?

This course can lead to career development in first line management roles.
The Introductory Certificate may provide credit against the Level 3 Certificate
in First Line Management and can also provide specific knowledge and skills appropriate to the Level 3 NVQ in Management.
