Apache Web Server

What's the course about?

This unit allows the candidate to set up and maintain Apache web server, install PHP and MySQL and configure Apache to use PHP and MySQL. It is primarily targeted at web administrators within a company, or those who need to set up, run, and maintain a web server. The unit covers the most widespread bundle of the Open Source Software, including
Apache, PHP, and MySQL server. It also includes some material on SSI. The unit covers the technical details about web servers and networks necessary for a solid and comprehensive understanding of web technologies and web programming in general.

Areas covered include:
• Install, configure and maintain Apache web server
• Set up PHP and MySQL server and connect Apache to these
• Tune up Apache server for improved performance, reliability, and advanced specific requirements

Students will be expected to install and configure Apache web server, PHP, and MySQL server, and produce a users' manual on this. Students will a gain pass, merit, or distinction.

How long is the course and when will it be taught?

There are two attendance options:
• Three day intensive training course (9am - 7pm)
• One evening per week (6pm - 9pm) for 10 weeks

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?
Applicants should have excellent computer skills, including a basic knowledge of HTML.

You will be awarded a MANCAT certificate.

On completion of this course you may progress onto further studies in the following areas: web programming, web administrating, and network administrating.
