How and when to enrol - adults

We will usually ask you to enrol at the campus where you'll be studying. If we need you to enrol somewhere else we will let you know.

Please allow up to two hours for enrolment. This could take longer if you’ve not yet applied to the college. Please bring evidence of any qualifications you already have.

Some courses are extremely popular so it's a good idea to call our Course Enquiry Team on 0161 203 2100 (option 2) to check places are available before you enrol.

Is your employer paying your fees?

If your employer or a sponsor is paying your fees, payment can be made in full at enrolment by cheque. Cheques need to be payable to ‘The Manchester College’.

Alternatively, we can invoice your employer or sponsor. If you would like us to raise an invoice, please bring a letter from your employer or sponsor, stating:

  • that they accept liability for your fees
  • details of who to invoice

Are you paying your own fees?

We can offer you an instalment plan for most courses. We’ll ask for:

  • the first instalment at enrolment
  • subsequent instalments by monthly direct debit – please bring your bank details with you to enrolment

We make a small charge for this service. The instalment plan is not available for some courses, such as some professional programmes.

Alternatively, you can pay in full by debit or credit card.

You must pay your tuition fees by the end of the first term of your course.

Do you receive benefits?

You may not have to pay tuition fees on certain courses if you receive one of the following:

  • Job Seekers’ Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit (single occupancy doesn't apply)
  • financial support for asylum seekers who have been in the UK for six months or more

Please bring proof of your benefits to enrolment:

  • your payment book
  • your Giro (or a photocopy)
  • proof of payment into a bank account or
  • an appropriate letter from the agency awarding you the benefit

If you would like information on help with finance you can discuss it with your tutor at enrolment or contact the guidance and welfare service.

Short courses

Many of our shorter courses do not have an application deadline, so you can apply at any time during the year.
